Baseball Game Preview: Miller Place Panthers vs. Rocky Point Eagles

For the second straight game, Miller Place will face off against Rocky Point. The Panthers will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Eagles at 4:00 p.m.

Miller Place is headed into the match having just posted their closest victory since April 11, 2024 on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Rocky Point 3-2.

Nick Frusco made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He is becoming a predictor of Miller Place's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 4-10 when he doesn't). Frusco was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Frusco wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kyle Diamond, who went 2-for-3 with one run. Those two hits gave Diamond a new career-high. Nick Gargone also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Miller Place's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Rocky Point, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-7.
