League recap: First place up for grabs as Senath-Hornersville and Kennett jockey for top spot

Bootheel league recap: 4/3/13

League leaders Kennett (3-1 in Bootheel play, 4-1 overall) and Senath-Hornersville (1-0, 2-1) will look to grab hold of first place in the standings this week. Last week, the Indians went 2-0, while the Lions was 2-0.

Senath-Hornersville outperformed the rest of the league this week, as its two total wins led the league.

Kennett's pitching staff had a strong showing this week, allowing only seven hits and 16 walks, both of which led the league.

The Indians' Declan Wallace kept his eye on the prize while at bat this week, leading the league with a .600 average (3-for-5). For the season, he's hitting .364, good for fourth in the league. Wallace has four hits total this season.



Kennett's Tyson Campbell struck out nine Malden hitters en route to a 10-2 victory on March 26. Over four innings of work, he gave up four hits and zero runs.
