Basketball Recap: Boca Raton Takes a Loss

Boca Raton was the 61-55 winner over Palm Beach Gardens when they last played one another back in November of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Boca Raton Bobcats lost 62-38 to the Palm Beach Gardens Gators on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 302nd, while the Gators are ranked 89th).

Palm Beach Gardens' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Azariah Marrero led the charge by going 7 of 8 on her way to 16 points along with five boards and four steals. Marrero is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nahomie Jeune Louis, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards.

Boca Raton has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Palm Beach Gardens, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-5.

When Boca Raton and Palm Beach Gardens next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Boca Raton will try to stop Olympic Heights' 11-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Palm Beach Gardens will try to stop Palm Beach Central's three-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
