Basketball Recap: North Idaho Christian Takes a Loss

It was a good run, but North Idaho Christian unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 36-35 to the Stillwater Christian Cougars. The game marked the Royals' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Several Royals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Chelsey Cate, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 37.1% of North Idaho Christian's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Kenna Brotherton was another key player, putting up six points along with eight boards and six assists.

Even though they lost, North Idaho Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 37 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

North Idaho Christian's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-3. As for Stillwater Christian, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-4.

North Idaho Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 46-28 loss against Flathead Valley on the 18th. Stillwater Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
