Basketball Game Preview: Galax Maroon Tide vs. George Wythe Maroons

Galax hasn't had much luck against George Wythe recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Galax Maroon Tide will venture away from home to square off against the George Wythe Maroons at 7:30 p.m.

Galax came up short against Bland County on Friday, falling 61-40. The Maroon Tide have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, George Wythe entered their tilt with Fleming on Saturday with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. They came out on top against the Colonels by a score of 71-59.

George Wythe's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.0 points per game. As for Galax, their loss dropped their record down to 1-10.

Galax took a serious blow against George Wythe when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 87-35. Can Galax avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
