Basketball Game Preview: Tarpon Springs Spongers vs. Seminole Warhawks

Tarpon Springs is 1-6 against Seminole since November of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Tarpon Springs Spongers will square off against the Seminole Warhawks at 7:00 p.m.

Tarpon Springs is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 11th straight game on Wednesday. They had to suffer through a 70-40 loss at the hands of East Lake. While losing is never fun, the Spongers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 744th, while the Eagles are ranked 78th).

Meanwhile, Seminole entered their tilt with Clearwater on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They secured a 68-62 W over the Tornadoes.

Seminole is also on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points per game. As for Tarpon Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 2-16.

Tarpon Springs took a serious blow against Seminole in their previous matchup back in January of 2021, falling 60-30. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Tarpon Springs was down 35-9.
