Basketball Recap: Meadowbrook Drops Highest Score of Season Against Zanesville

There's no place like home for Meadowbrook, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They came out on top against the Zanesville Blue Devils by a score of 59-52 on Saturday. The Colts' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Leading Meadowbrook to victory were Jacob Burris and Bentley Sedor. Burris went 5 of 6 en route to 16 points, while Sedor dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 boards. The dominant performance gave Burris a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Austin Warner, who posted eight points.

Meadowbrook was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Kelby Martin and Lucca Wood certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Martin put up 12 points in addition to five boards and three steals, while Wood had 16 points and five boards. Wood's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikey Johnson, who posted nine points and four steals.

Meadowbrook moved to 2-4 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Zanesville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Meadowbrook will take on West Holmes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meadowbrook is facing West Holmes at the right time seeing as West Holmes is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Zanesville, they will challenge Philo at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Philo is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.4 points per game this season.
