Softball Recap: Maret Frogs vs. Flint Hill Huskies
Maret extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 4-9 in the process. They came up short against the Flint Hill Huskies, falling 20-10. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Huskies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-4 last Monday.
As for Flint Hill, they pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Considering they have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
For Flint Hill's part, Cate Stanley was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and seven unearned) runs off six hits. Stanley was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jane Stanley was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Kate Clement was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple.
Maret does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Flint Hill, they will head out to challenge National Cathedral at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Flint Hill's pitchers better be ready for this one: National Cathedral has averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season.
