Softball Recap: Fallbrook Has No Trouble Against San Ysidro

Fallbrook's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the San Ysidro Cougars. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by ten runs or more this season.

Hana Winton was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted two strikeouts, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. She was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season.

In other pitching news, Baysia Perez looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, Olivia Castillo was a standout: she scored three runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Kayla Brown, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

With the win, Fallbrook broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-5-1. As for San Ysidro, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.

Fallbrook has already played their next contest, a 9-4 victory against Sweetwater on the 5th. As for San Ysidro, they will head out on the road to square off against Hoover at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 12.2 runs per game this season.
