Basketball Recap: St. Thomas Episcopal Takes a Loss

St. Thomas Episcopal was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost to the Northland Christian Cougars on the road by a 82-65 margin. While losing is never fun, the Saints can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 698th, while the Cougars are ranked 222nd).

Northland Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sion Cleveland led the charge by going 12 for 26 on his way to 27 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. Those 27 points gave Cleveland a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Spencer Townsell, who went 8 of 14 on his way to 20 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

St. Thomas Episcopal's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Northland Christian, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 18-3.

St. Thomas Episcopal will square off against First Baptist Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Northland Christian, they will face off against Rosehill Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Northland Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 12 games.
