Josh Lyon and DJ Wilson provided fans with a highlight when they connected against West Branch. The connection was good for 61 yards, the longest such play in Northeastern Buckeye this season.
Louisville moved up to 143 from 174 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Leopards were able to move up by defeating Carrollton 20-0.
Alliance's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Kordelle Phillips threw for 438 and 7 touchdowns and Ryan Bevington had 168 yards receiving. On the ground Phillips chipped in 148 yards. JJ Kukura helped Alliance's passing attack out by catching 8 balls for 133 yards.
He was 27-35 with 0 interception.
Kofi Amponsah made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Aviators bested Salem. The 5-foot-5 senior.
Phillips put up the best numbers in passing as Alliance beat the Quakers. Phillips' favorite target this week was Bevington, who caught 9 passes for 168 yards.
Mike Schott's team's Phillips and Bevington have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Phillips has thrown for 971 yards this season, while Bevington, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 22 catches for 427 yards. Walter Schrock from Louisville leads the league in rushing with 387 yards.
A big matchup in Northeastern Buckeye this week will be when Canton South takes on Marlington. The Wildcats are currently in third, while the Dukes are in second.
Canton South was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. Earlier in the week, Moe Daniska's team triumphed over the Warriors 49-27.
