Baseball Recap: MacArthur Comes Up Short

MacArthur and South Grand Prairie squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but MacArthur had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 2-1. The Cardinals were not able to make up for their loss to the Warriors from their previous meeting back in May of 2022.

Harper Goff was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. He has become a key player for MacArthur: the team is 7-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 9-10-3 otherwise.

On the hitting side, MacArthur saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ricardo Adame, who went 2-for-5 with one double.

MacArthur's defeat dropped their record down to 16-12-3. As for South Grand Prairie, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-8-2 record this season.

While MacArthur had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
