While Providence's win against Salem wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Pioneers had just enough and edged out the Lions 3-1. The Pioneers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lions on Monday, too.
Presley Hegedus (2026) was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bella Leasor (2025), who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Lyric Hertweck (2026) was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases.
Providence has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Salem, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Providence will head out to take on New Albany at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Salem, they will challenge Austin at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season.
