Basketball Game Preview: Jay Mustangs vs. South San Antonio Bobcats

The Jay Mustangs will square off against the South San Antonio Bobcats at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Jay is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.6 points per game this season.

Jay is returning to their home court after beating Southside on theirs, despite the fact Southside has dominated at home this season. Jay was the clear victor by a 42-19 margin over Southside on Friday. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Ny'Ashia Barnes continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 5 for 10 on her way to 12 points along with five boards and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Annalicia Rosa was another key player, putting up seven points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, South San Antonio strolled past Southwest with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 29-13.

South San Antonio pushed their record up to 17-13 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.3 points per game. As for Jay, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season.

Jay took their win against South San Antonio in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 59-33. Does Jay have another victory up their sleeve, or will South San Antonio turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
