Softball Recap: Beaver Local Wins Going Away Against Brooke

Beaver Local won the last time they faced Brooke and things went their way on Friday too. The Beavers were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Bruins. Considering the Beavers have won five matches by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Megan Henrich spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brenna Jones, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Ciara Call was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Beaver Local was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brooke only posted a batting average of .217.

Beaver Local has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Brooke, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.

Coming up, Beaver Local will host Madonna at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Beavers are on a four-game streak of home wins, the Blue Dons a four-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind. As for Brooke, they will head out to face off against Buckeye Local at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.91 runs per game on average), something the Bruins will no doubt try to take advantage of.
