Basketball Recap: Swain County Maroon Devils vs. Andrews Wildcats
If Swain County was feeling good fresh off their 86-37 takedown of Blue Ridge Early College last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Swain County Maroon Devils had to suffer through a 100-66 loss at the hands of the Andrews Wildcats. The Maroon Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.
Leading Andrews to victory were Ty Clark and Gabe Clark. Ty dropped a double-double on 23 points and 18 boards, while Gabe went 8 of 12 en route to 20 points in addition to six assists and five rebounds. Those 18 boards gave Ty a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kegan Ellis, who went 7 for 15 on his way to 18 points.
Swain County now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Andrews, they pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.
