Softball Recap: Egg Harbor Township Eagles vs. St. Joseph Wildcats
Egg Harbor Township extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 5-11 in the process. They lost 13-3 to the St. Joseph Wildcats. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 8-4.
Sophia Spatacco was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Sadie VanDine, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double.
As for St. Joseph, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games.
On St. Joseph's side, they let Alaina Dorsey and Lanie Giovinazzi run wild. Dorsey went 3-for-4 with five RBI and two doubles, while Giovinazzi went 2-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave Giovinazzi a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Brooke Tyndale, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Egg Harbor Township will take on Cedar Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for St. Joseph, they will square off against Cinnaminson on Saturday.
