Perquimans had won eight straight games and Hayleigh Solesbee did her part to make it nine on Wednesday. The Pirates were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Holmes Aces for which the team can thank Solesbee, who had 12 digs and three aces. She is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Perquimans never let Holmes on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-13, 25-22.

Perquimans' victory bumped their record up to 24-3. As for Holmes, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 21-3.

Perquimans and Holmes should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. The Pirates will take on Lejeune at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (20 vs. 303). Meanwhile, Holmes (ranked 24th) will meet East Carteret (ranked 274th) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
