Preview: Sandia Prep Sundevils vs. Socorro Warriors
Sandia Prep has been on the road for three straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Socorro Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
On Saturday, Sandia Prep came up short against Laguna Acoma and fell 49-41. Sandia Prep has struggled against Laguna Acoma recently, as their match on Saturday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Kyrie Lujan, who scored ten points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Emily Cook was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Meanwhile, Socorro had to endure a 13-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They secured a 41-35 W over Wingate on Tuesday. The victory was just what Socorro needed coming off of a 62-38 defeat in their prior contest.
Sandia Prep has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Socorro, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-13.
Sandia Prep came out on top in a nail-biter against Socorro in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, sneaking past 34-32. Will Sandia Prep repeat their success, or does Socorro have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
