Northeast Nodaway suffers seventh straight loss at home

Recap: Northeast Nodaway Blue Jays vs. Rock Port Blue Jays

The Northeast Nodaway Blue Jays's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They fell to Rock Port 48-42. While losing is never fun, Northeast Nodaway can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 575th, while Rock Port is ranked 205th).

Rock Port's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Corbyn Jakub, who scored six points along with 12 rebounds and seven assists. Jakub has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cade Makings, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds and four steals.

Northeast Nodaway's loss was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-14. As for Rock Port, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 10-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northeast Nodaway will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Mound City at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Rock Port will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on DeKalb at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. DeKalb is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.
