Recap: Gateway Eagles vs. Riverdale Raiders

The Gateway Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 28 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Monday as they easily beat Riverdale 65-26 on the road. Gateway's win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Gateway's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Thatiyana Holiday, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was V'Davrielle Johnson, who scored 12 points along with seven steals.

Gateway's victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.7 points per game. As for Riverdale, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gateway will be home for the holidays to greet Evangelical Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Evangelical Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 last Thursday. Riverdale will be home for the holidays to greet East Lee County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East Lee County has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 28.
