Baseball Recap: Campbell Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Campbell can bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Sulphur Bluff Bears.

Drake Sweeney spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up nine Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Campbell is 3-1-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-15 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Campbell saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Sweeney, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave Sweeney a new career-high.

Campbell's win bumped their record up to 5-16-2. As for Sulphur Bluff, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-10-2 record this season.

Campbell will have a chance to go back-to-back against Sulphur Bluff: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
