Preview: Lovejoy Leopards vs. Greenville Lions
Lovejoy has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Greenville Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Tuesday, Lovejoy was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 47-46 to Melissa.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Greenville, who are still winless after their 24th game. They were outmatched by McKinney North on the road and fell 84-11. While losing is never fun, Greenville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1244th, while McKinney North is ranked 33rd).
Lovejoy's loss dropped their record down to 18-12. As for Greenville, their defeat was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-24.
Everything came up roses for Lovejoy against Greenville in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 82-12 victory. With Lovejoy ahead 52-8 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
