Softball Recap: Davis Now 13-1 over Last 14 Games

Davis never let their opponents score on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Layton Lancers with a sharp 9-0 win. Considering the Darts have won 13 games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Cambell Christensen was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with five RBI and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Norah Sunderland was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Jewel Korth was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Davis kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 13-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Davis has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Layton, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-18.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Davis will take on Bountiful at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Darts 3.8, the RedHawks 2.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Layton, they will challenge Corner Canyon at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Chargers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.27 runs per game on average), something the Lancers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
