Football Game Preview: Avon Pirates vs. Sioux Falls Lutheran

The Avon Pirates will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Sioux Falls Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Avon is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They never let Oldham-Ramona/R get on the board and left with a 50-0 victory. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Pirates' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota football rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Rutland are ranked 59th).

Sioux Falls Lutheran never got on the board in their matchup last Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Iroquois/Lake Preston on Thursday. They blew past Iroquois/Lake Preston, posting a 48-6 win. Considering Sioux Falls Lutheran has won five games by more than 21 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Sioux Falls Lutheran is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 36 points. As for Avon, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
