Baseball Recap: Aiken Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Aiken's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the Gray Collegiate Academy War Eagles. The victory was some much needed relief for the Fighting Green Hornets as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Hunter Rarey was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cole Harmon, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Spencer Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Aiken's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 4-6. As for Gray Collegiate Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Aiken will have a chance to go back-to-back against Gray Collegiate Academy: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
