Football Recap: Granger Comes Up Short

Granger and Brighton squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Granger had to settle for second. They were dealt a 49-8 defeat at the hands of the Bengals. Having soared to a lofty 35 points in the game before, the Lancers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Owen Griffin threw for 165 yards and one TD. Kingston Patolo was his top target, picking up 86 receiving yards and one touchdown. On the ground, Sunia Fifita rushed for 32 yards.

Ryce Palepoi had an outrageously good game for Brighton as he threw for 229 yards and four touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes. Palepoi's passing game has become a key predictor of the Bengals' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 3-5 otherwise. Brighton's leading receiver Jayce Evans was Palepoi's top target yet again, picking up 100 receiving yards and one score.

Granger's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Brighton, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-5 record this season.

Granger does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Brighton, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 27-14 victory against Fremont on the 7th.
