Baseball Game Preview: Richmond-Burton Rockets vs. Woodstock North Thunder

The Richmond-Burton Rockets will challenge the Woodstock North Thunder at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Richmond-Burton is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

On Wednesday, Richmond-Burton didn't have quite enough to beat Sandwich and fell 3-2.

Meanwhile, while Woodstock North put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Harvard. The Thunder put the hurt on the Hornets with a sharp 12-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Thunder.

The team relied heavily on Braeden Berner, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Woodstock North's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 4-2 (and 3-6 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Parker Halihan, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one stolen base.

Woodstock North was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

Richmond-Burton's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Woodstock North, their victory bumped their record up to 7-8.

Richmond-Burton came out on top in a nail-biter against Woodstock North in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 10-8. Will the Rockets repeat their success, or do the Thunder have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
