Baseball Recap: Millard West Takes a Loss

Millard West and Millard South squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Millard West had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 2-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Patriots: they've now lost three in a row.

Brady Ferguson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April.

At the plate, Millard West saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sam Kidd, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Millard West's loss dropped their record down to 21-13. As for Millard South, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-10 record this season.

Millard West wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 1-0 victory against Papillion-LaVista on the 19th. Millard South has also already played their next contest (against Lincoln East), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
