Jena fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Buckeye on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 2-1. The Giants' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Collin Jensen spent all 7.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Jena saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brayden Oakes, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double.

Jena's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 20-8. As for Buckeye, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season.

Jena will take on Holy Savior Menard at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Buckeye, they will challenge Many at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight.
