Softball Recap: Haddam-Killingworth Beats Old Lyme for Their Seventh Straight Win

Haddam-Killingworth entered their tilt with Old Lyme on Monday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Wildcats. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won ten contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Emma Giaccone spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hannah Reilly was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caley Napoletano, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Haddam-Killingworth pushed their record up to 13-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Old Lyme, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Haddam-Killingworth will face off against North Branford at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Old Lyme, they will take on Montville at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolves have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
