Baseball Recap: Benson Comes Up Short

Benson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 7-0 to the Long Prairie-Grey Eagle Thunder. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Benson of the 5-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Benson saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Max Nygaard, who went 1-for-2 with one double. Noah Goossen also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Benson's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Long Prairie-Grey Eagle, the win keeps they at an undefeated 12-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Benson will square off against Minnewaska Area at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Long Prairie-Grey Eagle, they will head out to take on St. John's Prep at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Thunder are facing the Johnnies at the right time seeing as the Johnnies are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
