Basketball Recap: Wednesday's Win Is O'connor's Tenth in Last 11 Outings

O'Connor won the last time they faced Holmes and things went their way on Wednesday too. The O'Connor Panthers enjoyed a cozy 62-47 win over the Holmes Huskies. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 172nd, while the Huskies are ranked 951st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

O'Connor's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jackson Schulze, who went 9 of 13 on his way to 22 points and five boards. That's the most points Schulze has posted since back in November of 2024. Hagen Hurst was another key player, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds.

O'Connor was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

O'Connor is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a massive bump to their 18-11 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points per game. As for Holmes, they dropped their record down to 4-29 with the loss, which was their 11th straight on the road.

O'Connor will head out to face off against Stevens at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. O'Connor is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.8 points per game this season. As for Holmes, they will be playing at home against Marshall at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Marshall also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 55.8 points per game.
