Basketball Recap: Monday's Win Is Wheeler's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

Wheeler proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 45) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Falkner Eagles 67-64. Wheeler has seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw Falkner, too.

When it comes to explaining why Falkner lost, don't look at Chris Nunley. Despite the final result, he went 10 for 18 on his way to 28 points and eight steals. The dominant performance gave Nunley a new career-high in steals. Gavin Wooley was another key player, putting up ten points along with seven rebounds and five assists.

Wheeler is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.8 points per game. As for Falkner, they dropped their record down to 4-4 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Wheeler won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Itawamba Agricultural at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Wheeler's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine contests. Falkner will take on Watertown in a holiday battle at at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
