Softball Recap: Holy Cross' Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

It was a good run, but Holy Cross unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Haddon Heights Garnets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Garnets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-3 two weeks ago.

Jamie Dunn was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off ten hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, Lilly Whitaker made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two runs and one double.

Holy Cross' defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Haddon Heights, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holy Cross will challenge Westampton Tech at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. As for Haddon Heights, they will venture away from home to face off against Pennsville Memorial at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
