Recap: Silverado Skyhawks vs. Rancho Rams
After a string of three wins, the Silverado Skyhawks's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a hard 54-36 fall against Rancho. Silverado found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post 14 fewer assists than your opponent.
When it comes to explaining why Silverado lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kingsley Jones. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Jones scored 15 or more points. Christina Stowers was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds.
Leading Rancho to victory were Claudia Vargas-Arellano and Taylor Dagons. Vargas-Arellano scored 17 points along with six assists and six rebounds, while Dagons scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Vargas-Arellano is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Crystal Padilla, who scored four points.
Silverado's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Rancho, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Silverado will take on Cimarron-Memorial at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Rancho, they will play host again and welcome Western, where tip off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Western has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
