Basketball Game Preview: Landstown Eagles vs. Salem Sundevils

The Landstown Eagles just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Salem Sundevils at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Landstown knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten matches -- so hopefully Salem likes a good challenge.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Landstown duked it out withCox on Monday. Landstown took down Cox 60-41. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while the Falcons are ranked 136th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Landstown found their leader in sophomore Chase Johnson, who went 5 of 7 en route to 13 points in addition to six steals and five rebounds. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for Johnson. Another player making a difference was Damien Robinson, who posted 11 points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Salem didn't have quite enough to beat Glass last Saturday and fell 60-58.

Landstown is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season. As for Salem, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.

Landstown took their victory against Salem in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 71-47. Does Landstown have another victory up their sleeve, or will Salem turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
