When you are a Division 3 school playing baseball in Orange County, it's easy to get overlooked by the Division 1 powerhouses. After Mira Costa's win in the championship game of the Boras Classic Friday at Mater Dei High School, there will be no overlooking the Mustangs.

Mira Costa (Manhattan Beach) (11-1) knocked off JSerra Catholic (San Juan Capistrano) 2-1 in the championship game of the Boras Classic Southern Division bracket and will advance to play Davis, the North Division winner, on May 7 at Evans Diamond on the University of California, Berkeley.

Mustangs pitcher Roland Houseman limited JSerra Catholic, ranked No. 6 in the nation in the Xcellent 25 National Baseball Rankings presented by the Army National Guard, to just one run on four hits with five strikeouts over six innings. Trevor Franklin closed out the seventh inning with three straight outs to get the save.

Matt Beserra had the big hit of the game for Mira Costa (11-1) with a home run in the second inning.

Mira Costa went 4-0 in the tournament with a 1-0 win over Damien (La Verne) in the first round, 11-3 over Mater Dei (Santa Ana) in the second round and 9-6 over J.W. North (Riverside) in the semifinals.
