Basketball Game Preview: Sedgwick County Cougars vs. Limon Badgers

The Sedgwick County Cougars will be taking part in a tournament against the Limon Badgers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Sedgwick County has 12 straight victories, Limon has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Friday, Sedgwick County humbled Haxtun with a 60-28 victory. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 25 points or more this season.

Lainee Nein and Abigail Dille were among the main playmakers for Sedgwick County as the former shot 5-for-8 from beyond the arc and almost dropped a double-double with 22 points and nine steals and the latter went 8-for-11 on her way to 19 points and five assists. Dille's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Piper Buettenback, who posted two points.

Meanwhile, Limon lost to Evangel Christian Academy on the road by a 56-38 margin on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Badgers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 212th, while the Eagles are ranked 95th).

Sedgwick County pushed their record up to 15-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.6 points over those games. As for Limon, their loss dropped their record down to 4-16.
