Baseball Game Preview: IMG Academy Silver Ascenders vs. St. Petersburg Catholic Barons

The IMG Academy Silver Ascenders will head out to face off against the St. Petersburg Catholic Barons at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. IMG Academy Silver's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so St. Petersburg Catholic's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

IMG Academy Silver's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past University 9-0.

Kane Garcia looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on JP Piles, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Ari Dym, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, St. Petersburg Catholic won against IMG Academy Navy on Tuesday with four runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. St. Petersburg Catholic narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Evangelical Christian 4-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Barons.

IMG Academy Silver has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. St. Petersburg Catholic's record is now 8-9.
