Football Recap: Crescenta Valley Wins Going Away Against Hoover

Crescenta Valley's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. Everything went their way against the Hoover Tornados as they made off with a 49-26 victory. The contest marked the Falcons' most dominant win of the season so far.

Crescenta Valley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Xavier Thompson out in front who rushed for 87 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries, and also threw for 65 yards and one TD. The dominant performance also gave Thompson a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). Another receiver making a difference was Nathan Karsten, who picked up 125 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Crescenta Valley didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Hoover to a completion percentage of just 46.7%. The Falcons hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.48 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Hoover's loss came despite strong showings from Gabriel Garcia and Angelo Bailey. Garcia picked up 99 receiving yards and one TD, while Bailey picked up 38 receiving yards and one score.

Crescenta Valley now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Hoover, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-3.

Looking ahead, Crescenta Valley will be playing at home against Muir at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons' defense better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 27.8 points per game this season. As for Hoover, they will head out to square off against Pasadena at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tornados will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least 31 points in their last three games.
