Baseball Recap: Hattiesburg Takes a Loss

After flying high against Terry last Thursday, Hattiesburg came back down to earth. Hattiesburg lost 12-6 to the West Jones Mustangs on Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Mustangs: they've now lost nine in a row.

Hattiesburg got a good showing from Andrew Jordan, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Hattiesburg got a big performance out of Ramarion Wilson, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-3. With that strong performance, Wilson is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Tyler Weatherspoon was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Hattiesburg's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for West Jones, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hattiesburg will welcome West Marion at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hattiesburg's pitchers better be ready for this one: West Marion has averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for West Jones, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Jim Hill at 5:00 p.m.
