Baseball Game Preview: Lake Ridge Eagles vs. South Grand Prairie Warriors

The Lake Ridge Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the South Grand Prairie Warriors at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lake Ridge will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

While Lake Ridge's win against Crowley wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Lake Ridge narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Crowley 4-2.

Cannon Day looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jayde Austin was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. He has become a key player for Lake Ridge: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three hits, but 4-9-3 otherwise.

Meanwhile, South Grand Prairie was able to grind out a solid win over Grand Prairie on Friday, taking the game 6-1. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Gophers: they've now won six in a row.

Jonathan Mendez looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, South Grand Prairie got a big performance out of Isaac Rios, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Ruben Carranza, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Lake Ridge's record now sits at 7-9-3. As for South Grand Prairie, their record is now 12-6-2.
