Preview: Seymour Panthers vs. Celeste Blue Devils

The Seymour Panthers will square off against the Celeste Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Seymour will be strutting in after a win while Celeste will be coming in after a defeat.

Seymour stacked a seventh blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Petrolia 52-0 at home. The victory was just what Seymour needed coming off of a 54-22 defeat in their prior match.

Brayden Loyd was his usual excellent self, throwing for 445 yards and five touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes. David Charo was another key contributor, picking up 179 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 42 points the game before, Celeste were a bit more limited in their match on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 35-7 loss at the hands of Muenster. Celeste has not had much luck with Muenster recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Celeste's defeat came about despite a quality game from Anthony Powell, who rushed for 150 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. Powell has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last eight times he's played.

Seymour's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.3 points per game. As for Celeste, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.
