Aragon and Carlmont are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Dons will take on the Scots at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Aragon fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against San Mateo on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bearcats by a score of 4-3. The Dons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Makayla Hafoka spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on 13 hits.
On the hitting side, Taylor Workman made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Destiny Garcia also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, Carlmont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They fell 10-7 to Burlingame. That's two games in a row now that the Scots have lost by exactly three runs.
Emma Gonnikman was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Carlmont's defeat dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Aragon, their loss dropped their record down to 8-14.
Carlmont's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Aragon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .338. It's a different story for Carlmont, though, as they've only averaged .258. Will they be able to contain Aragon's hitters?
Everything went Aragon's way against Carlmont when the teams last played back in March, as Aragon made off with a 14-3 win. Do the Dons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Scots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
