First Coast Christian extends road losing streak to six

Recap: First Coast Christian Knights vs. St. Joseph Academy Flashes

The First Coast Christian Knights lost against the St. Joseph Academy Flashes back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. First Coast Christian was beaten by St. Joseph Academy 76-23. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for First Coast Christian in their matchups with St. Joseph Academy: they've now lost five in a row.

St. Joseph Academy was led to victory by Zariyah Turner and Kelly Cramer. Turner scored 21 points along with six rebounds and four steals, while Cramer scored 23 points along with four steals. The game was Turner's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeahnna Williams, who scored 14 points.

First Coast Christian bumped their record down to 1-7 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.8 points per game. As for St. Joseph Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-5.

First Coast Christian won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Eagle's View at 6:30 p.m. on January 12th. Eagle's View presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than First Coast Christian in Florida (Eagle's View is ranked 217th, while First Coast Christian is ranked 630th). As for St. Joseph Academy, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Barron Collier at 1:30 p.m. on January 15th.
