Recap: Sequoyah Eagles vs. Pawhuska Huskies
The Sequoyah Eagles had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past Pawhuska 49-16 at home. The result was nothing new for Sequoyah, who have now won six matches by 22 points or more so far this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sequoyah to victory, but perhaps none more so than Caden Reavis, who rushed for 124 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Reavis' longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards. Another player making a difference was Landon Gilbreath, who rushed for 139 yards and three touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Pawhuska to a paltry 148 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Sequoyah's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out three times before it was all said and done. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Levi Z gastelum.
Although Pawhuska took the loss, they still got scores from Canyon Hindman and Traven Richardson.
Sequoyah's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Pawhuska, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.
Sequoyah will head out on the road to face off against Vinita at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pawhuska, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Adair at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Adair is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
