Softball Game Preview: Oakleaf Knights vs. Creekside Knights

Oakleaf is a perfect 7-0 against Creekside since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. Oakleaf will challenge Creekside at 6:30 p.m. Oakleaf will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

On Tuesday, Oakleaf needed a bit of extra time to put away Baldwin. They had just enough and edged out the Indians 3-2.

Charlotte Maddox spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Oakleaf's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jaydyn Beall, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Beall has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, Creekside was a bit more limited in their matchup on Tuesday. They fell just short of Bishop Snyder by a score of 3-1.

Creekside's loss dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Oakleaf, their win bumped their record up to 9-11.

Creekside's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Oakleaf has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Creekside, though, as they've been averaging only 3.9 strikeouts. Will Oakleaf keep running through batters, or will Creekside buck the trend?

Oakleaf beat Creekside 4-1 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Does Oakleaf have another victory up their sleeve, or will Creekside turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
