Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Reavis' Sixth in Last Seven Outings

Evergreen Park typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Reavis proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Mustangs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-6 last Monday.

Juan Avila spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Reavis saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Velasco, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI. Jose Gonzalez was another, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Reavis is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Evergreen Park, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-3.

Looking ahead, Reavis will venture away from home to square off against Thornton Fractional South at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Evergreen Park, they will host Lemont at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Lemont HS will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight.
