Baseball Recap: New Life Camp Sets Scoring Season-High Against South Wake

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask New Life Camp). They walked away with a 14-10 victory over the South Wake Sabres on Monday. The Storm haven't had any issues with the Sabres recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Ethan Windley made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed 1.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run but no hits. Windley was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Seth Massie, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Cameron Neighoff also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

New Life Camp's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for South Wake, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Life Camp will take on Neuse Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.91 runs per game on average), something the Storm will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for South Wake, they will square off against Chatham HomeSchool at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
